I got born-again many years, and looking back at my childhood in the faith; I can recollect many great men and women of God. The likes of Evangelist Iyanda of “Go yee,” J.K. Solomon, Prophet Obadare, Evangelist Bola Odeleke of “Agbara Ki Bati,” Archbishop Benson Idahosa, W.F. Kumuyi and many others. I grew up to see miracles, signs, wonders, salvation, prosperity and the continuous depopulation of the kingdom of darkness.
But what do we see today? We see a church that has been politicized; we recycle members rather than convert unbelievers; we have stopped aggressive evangelism, lost our brightness as light and washed away our taste as the salt of the earth. At this point, there isn’t a lot of difference between a believer and an unbeliever. And rightly so, we have received a lot of criticisms for this.

Nevertheless, our objective is not to sit and complain. So the first thing we need to ask ourselves is what the cause of these problems is? And I’ll be glad to tell you what, it is laziness. The church has become lazy, and we have let go of the singular most important commandment of Jesus, which is to “Go.”
One major effect of the church becoming lazy is that the world is influencing the church rather than the church influencing the world. So today, we celebrate drug addiction, immorality, wickedness, the race for illicit wealth, Yahoo plus, rituals, selfishness, self-centeredness, lack of respect for human life, fear of God, and desire to serve God the serious infiltration of the world into the church. This will be a major setback for the generation coming behind if they don’t do anything about it now.

I am writing this piece for the church to rise from its slumber and fulfil its purpose and destiny. The Lord Jesus only came to fulfil the prophecy established by the prophets; the book of Matthew shows this to us. And for our dispensation, Jesus gave us a Prophecy to fulfil; He said go ye into the world and preach the gospel and make disciples of all nations. He said these signs should follow them that believe, in my name cast out devils, heal the sick, open the eyes of the blind and raise the dead. These are the prophecy to fulfil by today’s believers.

Enough of church entertainment and hypocrisy; let’s work for God, let’s allow God to use us and stop using God. Every message today teaches us how to use God; we need a change of orientation to prevent the devil from taking over the kingdom. Many will say the kingdom of darkness will not prevail over the church, but remember that Paul evangelized then is now Muslim enclaves today. We need to wake up and fight a good fight of faith. We must work out our salvation with fear and trembling. Let’s work for God by rekindling the fire deposited on us by the Holy Spirit. Just as my sister said to me, I say to you, “Ishe ya,” meaning “let the work begin.”
